Department of Commerce Accounting and Finance organized a debate for III year B.COM A&F students on “ONLINE Vs. OFFLINE MARKETING WHICH IS MORE EFFECTIVE” on 16th December 2021. The debate helped the students to think critically and share their views on the given topic. Two teams with nine students in each participated in the Debate. One team spoke in favour of online marketing, and the other team spoke for offline marketing.
Logo designing competition was organized by Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) for I B.COM (A&F) Students on 1st and 2ndDecember, 2021 at 11.30 am in Room no. F3. Prof. Leena Rani, Assistant Professor, Department of commerce, Ms. Lavanya Devi, Head, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce (Corporate Secretaryship) and Ms. Aruna, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics were the judges for the competition. Prof. R. Selvi, Head, Department of B.COM (A&F), gave a welcome address to everyone and explained the rules of the event. She told that logo is a big part of brand identity and is likely to be one of the first interaction, what the consumer have with an organization’s services. It must make a strong first impression and build a meaningful brand identity and image. 35 teams were participated and gave presentation on the significance of their logo designs from I B.COM (A&F). The logos were judged on different grounds such as relevance, description, uniqueness and effectiveness.
Department of Commerce Accounting & Finance organized a Quiz on Banking sector for the II B.Com students on 21/12/2021. The Quiz had two rounds and Rules and regulations of the quiz were explained at the beginning. The main objective of this event is to make the students aware of recent general knowledge related to Banking sector which was interesting and informative and provided excitement among them.
Two-round competition includes Objective type & Direct questions. For final round top 18 students were selected from II B.COM (A&F) which engaged the students for one and half hour.

The Paper Presentation Competition aims to bring out situational and analysis-based research work in students and develop their ability to think out of the box. This will also help the students to gain expertise on the topics and therefore enhance their knowledge and learning.
69 students participated and presented paper. Out of them, three students were selected for their best performance
Fourth day Guest Lecture on Marketing was organized by the Department of B.Com A&F for II Year Students on 02/10/2021. Ms.Prema, Asst. Professor of the department introduced the guest The Guest Speaker for the session was Mr. Parthiban, Sales head, Mega T.V, Chennai. The speaker stressed upon clear directions that the students must have a strong knowledge about recent trends in Marketing. After delivering his lecture he encouraged students and clarified many doubts of the budding marketers. . It was very informative and interactive session. 70 students participated and benefitted. Final day Guest lecture started with a prayer on04/10/2021. Ms. Selvi head of the Department welcomed the guest. The Guest Speaker for the function was Dr. S. Sangeetha Head, Department of Bank Management, Pachayappas College, Chennai. The lecture was delivered on the topic “BANKING”.
The session was extremely inspiring and it made the students to participate actively. The lecture was very motivating and it provided extensive information about banking sector and its activities. Guidelines for preparing Banking Examinations and other competitive exams have been given to the students. 64 students thoroughly benefitted from the Guest Lecture. Dr. Sumathy delivered the vote of thanks.

One team spoke in favour of online marketing, and the other team spoke for offline marketing.
Debater from the team online marketing said it is a useful method of buying for the new generation and has more flexibility. Advances in technology makes online purchasing more effective. They also contributed by saying many times offline purchasing environment aren’t comfortable.
CONCIOUS LEADERSHIP
A unique and highly interactive 5 days virtual faculty development programme was held on theme ‘’Conscious Leadership’’ where esteemed Associate professors from various college were invited to speak on the theme.

She focused on three things i.e., learner’s focus, teamwork and participation and finally continuous improvement, which made a positive impact on the faculties who participated. Department of commerce (Accounting & Finance) organized community service on 24/12/2021. Students from the department distributed food packet to the poor people in and around Mugapair. From this service students can know how to interact socially, how to understand other people problems and how to work for the social betterment of the society. It is not only the society which gets benefitted from the service done by the students, but it is also the students who get benefitted, as it gives Satisfaction, Motivation and Inspiration.
CAREER COUNSELING PROGRAMME
Department of B.com Accounting and Finance Organised career counseling Programme to create awareness and also motivates the students to select the better career on 4th January 2022 for the final year students. Guest of the programme was Mr. Harshwarthan and Mr. Aravindhan, Alumni of our Department. Prof. R. Selvi, Head, Department of commerce (A&F) welcomed and introduced the guests of the day. They have appealed students to focus on employability skills while taking their higher education and also shared their views with students on this occasion. They advised to improve their communication skills in English so that they can get good jobs in industry sector. They suggested many such constructive changes that can make one brighter and more successful. The session was very interactive; students were very attentive. An alumnus of our department helps the students to gain more clarity regarding the professional world and guides them into the right direction. This programme facilitates the students to excel for a bright career.
Department of Commerce(Accounting & Finance) has organized a webinar on the topic “SUPPLY CHANI MANAGEMEN” on 28thMay and 29th May2021. Guest of Honor and Speaker of the day Mr. K.Swaminathan, Prop- Learn2win Academy hasgraced the occasion by explaining with basic examples which made the students to understand the concept well. The complete session was mind blowing, interesting and informative to the participants and an interactive session as well which developed our student’s knowledge on the topic Supply chain management
All the first year students and all department staff had participated in the program and enriched in the knowledge.
