Department of Computer Science, Shift-I organised a Guest Lecture Programme on 20^th January 2023. Around 150 Students actively enrolled and took part. Dr. M.Sivasakthi, Assistant Professor, SRM University was the resource person. The session commenced with the guest introduction by Mrs.W.Sharmila Williams He lectured about the emerging need to learn Data Science and the road map towards becoming Data Analytics. The key note of the lecture was the contribution of Data Science in decision making and making world a better place with data science tools and techniques. He encouraged students to take up Data Science through Online Course and suggested some platforms like SWAYAM, MOOC and online course offered by IIT-Madras.  The session was very interactive and participants shared valuable feedback at the end. Students were greatly benefited with the programme. Ms.DivyaDarshini III- B.Sc(CS) delivered the Vote of Thanks.

Mr.S.Prasanth Kumar, Chairman of Alpha Novas, Chennai was the resource person. The session commenced with the guest introduction by the Head of the Department Mr.S James Benedict Felix. The resource person shared his knowledge on developing unique project and various field to focus, related to project title selection. Students gained a clear insight toward developing project from beginning to the end. The session was very interactive and participants shared valuable feedback at the end. Students were greatly benefited with the programme. Ms.Harsha III- B.Sc(CS) delivered the Vote of Thanks.

We organized another webinar on Virtual Reality associated with BCA departments on 10^th June 2020. The resource person was Dr.J.Satheesh Kumar, Associate Professor, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. 228 members were actively participated in this program. 

Conducted E-Workshop on 14^th May 2020 in the title of “Python”. The resource person was R.Ramnath, Data Scientist, Career Mudhra, Chennai.

A technical Symposium “TECH ARENA’18” was conducted by the department on 24^th Septembner 2018. Mr.P.Srinivasan, Director of Thai Technologies came as a Chief Guest and Mr.R.Arun Vijay, S/W developer and Actor came as a Guest of Honor.

With the blessings of Almighty, the Department of Computer Science functions enthusiastically. The department has brought many laurels to the college by actively participating in various activities. Mr.S.James Benedict Felix, HOD  participated in the  Inter National Conference and presented a paper titled “A STUDY ON DIFFERENT APPROACHES FOR CODE SMELL DETECTION”, hosted by Dr.M.G.R University. We are proud about our department staff G.Gayathri Attended national seminar titled “THESIS WRITING” hosted by DRBCC Hindu College. Mr.A.Jerome Robinson participated A National level workshop titled “A training with MatLab” in BS Abdur Rahman University.

The Students have excelled in various competitions like Quiz, Paper presentation, Debugging, Web Designing, JAM and Aptitude tests conducted by the department as well as in various inter- collegiate activities. A technical Symposium “TECH ARENA’16” was conducted by the department on 9^th September 2016.   Ms .Amanda Cagle, Team Manager of ZOHO, who had presided as a Chief Guest and delivered her address about current technologies of  IT. Our Former Principal Dr.P.Prakasam has attended the department function as a Guest of Honour. We are proud of our UG students Durga. A, S.Sarulatha, K.Nivedha, S. Arya, Bridhu N S, Lavanya R, Vijaya Lakshmi A, Arthi A who have secured above 80% in the academic years (2016-2017).  R.Ananda Raj , III year student has been awarded the  Gold medal in “Best Physique” conducted by University of Madras. He also represented All India tournament in Punjab University, Patiyala. More than 90% of our PG students have secured 80% and above in the academic year (2015-2017).
