WORLD MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY PROGRAMME

(21.02.2023)

Our Department conducted World  Mother Language Day program on 21.02.2023. The Resource Person for the programme was Dr.P.Annadurai, Assistant Professor, Tagore  College of Arts and Science, Chrompet. The program started with a welcome address by Our College Tamil Association Secretary  R.Ezra, III B.Com and introduction of the chief guest was given by Dr.T.Prema. The session started with introduction of Mother Language into students in an effective manner. Our Chief Guest distributed the Prizes for Poetry Competition, Essay writing and Oratorical Competition participated and winning students.

The session was informative which helped the participants to understand the concepts in an effective manner. The resource person had frequently clarified doubts thus making the session interactive.

The Convenor of the program was Dr.T.Prema and Dr.M.Arunagiri. The students of I,II, III BA Tamil of our College in Shift-I and Shift-II were given an opportunity for MC was given by Sandya and Vaijayanthi of III BA Tamil and Vote of Thanks delivered by Ezhumalai of II BA Tamil.

The Department of Tamil & Department of Library in association with Internal Quality Cell (IQAC) celebrated the 22^nd International Mother Language Day on 21-02-22 by organizing a Language sign campaign, mini video bytes and conducting essay and poetry writing competition in the Campus.

MGC Tamil Department celebrated the Tamil Ilakkiya Manra Vizha through virtual mode on 10^thOctober, 2020. The Chief Guest of the programme was Dr. G. Dhamodharan, Associate Professor Dept. of Tamil, Vivekananda College. He emphasis the importants of the education from ancient period to current period also link between ancient and current education system.

KULAM - ‘TAMIZH ILAKKIYA MANRA VIZHA’ was conducted on 22nd August 2019.  Chief Guest Dr. D. David Stanly Assistant Professor and Research guide, Department of Tamil, Loyola College.

Our department conducted tamil ilakkiya mandra vizha on 27.08.2018 at 10.30am to 1.30pm., on the occasion our college secretary Rev.Fr.Philip Pulipra complimented the programme and presidential address rendered by Principal Dr.K.Mohandoss. Dr.C.Mangaiyarkarasi Principal R.P.K.Jain Women’s College, Chennai made a special note address on “History of Tamil Literature from ancient to modern literature”,  was very useful for our tamil department students. In the event introductional speech was by our department head Dr.T.Prema. Welcome address and keynote address rendered by our department faculty Mrs.D.Jemila Marshal and Dr.V.Iyyappan respectively.

MGC Tamil Department celebrated the Tamil Ilakkiya Manra Vizha  on 21^st  september, 2017. The celebration was graced with the presence of Rev. Fr. Sabu M George Maruthur, Secretary and Dr.K. Mohandoss, Principal and Teaching staff and students of our college. The invocation song was recited by the student of III B.A Tamil. The welcome address was given by Mrs.D.Jemila, faculty of the Department. Rev.Fr. Sabu M George Maruthur, Secretary shared his nostalgic moments of his affection about Tamil people and culture and blessed and appreciated the goodness and dedication of the members of the Tamil Department. Dr.K. Mohandoss, Principal of the college Motivated the programme . Vice Principal of Shift – I Mrs.S.V.Geethapriya , appreciated the teaching staff and students.  Introductory speech was given by Dr.T.Prema Head of the Department Dept. of Tamil. Dr.V. Iyappan faculty of Tamil rendered keynote address.

Dept of Tamil invited Vice principals, Academic council member, Dean of Arts and Science and Dean of Discipline and honored.

The Chief Guest of the programme was Mr.S.Sargurunathan, Assistant  Professor, Dept. of Tamil,Dr.Ambedhkar Govt Arts College.He rendered lecture on the topic of “Science in Tamil” and given important point that even during Ancient Period some scholars known the the scientific knowledge and expressed their views  in writings. Before the programme various competitions for students from all departments of our college students participated and winner selected this competition programme was conducted by our Tamil Department staff Dr.D.Jemila, Prof. Rajavelu. Prize winner announced in this progromme. The Master of ceremony and vote of thanks rendered by faculty  of Tamil  Dr.A.Kannaki, and Mr.C.Devaraj respectively .The celebration ended with the National Anthem.
