SEMINAR ON CYBER SECURITY AND SOCUAL ISSUES

Objective:
This seminar on Cyber security and Social issues was organized by the department to raise awareness and educate students about the risks associated with cybercrime and the measures that can be taken to prevent such activities.
The program was started with the prayer to the almighty. It was followed by the welcome speech. S. U. Mohamed Rizwan was invited speaker for the Seminar. He is Assistant professor, Social activist and public speaker. He has organized many workshops like this.

The outcomes of this seminar was students were able to learn about types of attacks, attackers and security threats and vulnerabilities present in the computer system as well as tools and techniques to safeguard oneself in cyber space.

(Intercollegiate Competition and Project   Exhibition – 12/09/23)

Department of Electronics and Communication Science organized an Inter collegiate Competitions and Project Exhibition on 12/09/23 in Mar Ivanios Hall. These competitions were conducted to bring out student’s capacity for creativity, critical thinking and focused.

Honorable secretary, Guest of honor and Principal inaugurated the event. Show casing the student’s projects was the main objective and thereby enhancing the project quality as per the need of industry. Honorable secretary and Principal addressed the session with very knowledgeable insights and well encouraging words that gave an exposure to students how to learn outcomes of the projects. There were a total of 40 working projects on display, during the event. All the projects were mentored and guided by the faculty members of the department. The students demonstrated the working of their projects to the visitors.

The event motivated the students to take up the project work seriously and to bring in more innovations in the work that can be helpful to the society.
The Electronics department  expresses sincere thanks to the management for providing the opportunity and support to organize this event, The faculty members and students from other departments visited the exhibition and encouraged the students by interacting with them. 

Inter collegiate events:

Students from various colleges presented a paper in paper presentation competition. Off-stage events were conducted namely “Best out of Waste”, “Poster Designing”, and “Project display”. Around 100 students were participated in various events. .The prizes for all the winners were distributed by our Guest of honour Prof Sudhakar.  Overall was won by Mohammed sadhak college of Arts and Science.

2. To identify various skills in troubleshooting and repair methods.  

3. To develop skills in servicing Electronic Gadgets.

4. Most of the students were able to troubleshoot their own repaired mobile phones & rectified

The main objective of stress management is to reduce or eliminate the negative effects of stress on a person's physical, emotional, and mental well-being. This includes improving one's ability to cope with stress, enhancing overall health and productivity, and improving relationships with others.  Beneficiaries : II Year ECS  & III Year  ECS & BCA Students.

 Resource Person : Dr. R. Amuthavalli, Head,PG Department of Electronics and Communication Science, Mohammed Sathadk College , Chennai.

 The objective of this Guest Lecture is to impart fundamental knowledge on embedded systems and their design.

The resource person starts the session with the interaction to students about the recent developments in electronic products that utilize microprocessors and microcontrollers embedded within them to carry out the required operation. She educated the students with the hardware, software and other resources required for designing an embedded system. Also, she introduced the concepts of Real Time Operating System which is essential in designing an embedded product. She also suggested project ideas in embedded systems that can be developed by the students and the possibilities of getting funds for these projects. In addition, she provided basic demonstration on Arduino microcontroller and its connections. Students are motivated to do mini embedded products of their own using Arduino microcontroller.

Life Skill Program on “ZUMBA & AEROBICS” - 10/08/22

REPORT

 Life Skill Program on “ZUMBA & AEROBICS” was conducted on 10^thAugust, 2022 in Mar Ivanios Hall.  The major objective of the programme is toenrich the curriculumwith Health &Nutrition programs,  equipping Students with active exerciseshelping them to improve the quality of their life.Ms.Amutha, Department of Commerce, MGR University, Chennai & Zumba trainer was the resource person. Zumba involves movement of the entire body with a full-body workout. An effective Zumba  provides  health benefits and social benefits in a group workout.

he Program started at  10.00am with a prayer song, followed by the welcome address by M. Shalini of III BES. The Session started with warm up exercises followed by ZUMBA dance.   Students showedinterest to learn and practiceZUMBA.

Workshop on “IMPACT OF MENTAL HEALTH IN ACADEMICS” –10^th August 2022

REPORT

Workshop on “IMPACT OF MENTAL HEALTH IN ACADEMICS” was conducted on 10^th August 2022.  The main objective of this programme was to give awareness about Mental Health. Poor mental health can affect students at all stages of life, as they are facing loneliness, anxiety and even depression. Mental health difficulties can have a significant impact on a student’s ability to engage with their studies, make friends etc.

The Program started at around 11.30a.m with a prayer and a lecture by Sr.Celine Maria. She explained the importance of mental health in our day-to-day activities as well as motivated us to achieve our goals. She also conducted games and made the session very interactive.

  The program ended at 12.50 noon and vote of thanks was proposed by P.Pooja of II BES.

Awareness Program on “HEALTH & HYGEINE”

REPORT

An Awareness Program on “HEALTH & HYGEINE”was conducted on 10^th August 2022. The main objective of the programme was to give awareness about HEALTH & HYGEINE. Personal hygiene is essential for several reasons eb personal well-being, social health, psychological health and simply as a way of life. Keeping good hygiene, not only safeguards those around us from suffering illnesses, but also it will prevent the spread of infections, illnesses, and bad odors.

The Program Started at around 10.30a.m. with a prayer song played followed by Talk on HEALTH &HYGEINE by Resource Person Ms.Arshi Siyal, Program trainer (Hindustan Unilever Limited). She highlighted the harmful effects of sweat and its consequences like the sweat trapped in the underarms feeds bacteria to cause 90% of body odour. She also gave remedies such as deodorants to stop body odour at its source. Rexona products were also distributed to all students as it has sweat guard technology which prevents odour from sweat and bacteria.

  The program ended at 12.10 noon &vote of thanks was proposed by P.Pooja of II BES.

MOTIVATIONAL SEMINAR “CAMPUS TO CORPORATE”

The motivational seminar “CAMPUS TO CORPORATE was organized on 29/04/22 in Room no G19. The major objective of the programme is to enable students to understand the transition from being a student to becoming a professional. Students gain the confidence to perform a job, yet will be open to learn much on the job.

The Program started at around 9.00 a.m. with a prayer by A. Indhuja of III BES. The resource person, Prof.  Sharmila Williams Assistant Professor, Department of Computer science, Mar Gregorios College of Arts & Science started her presentation. The program was organized to help students improve their communication(Spoken, Written & Presentations Skills), to build confidence, develop self-esteem, and to bring positive changes in the attitude & behaviour  of the participants, to impart career specific practical inputs along with sharing the expectations of corporate and to give inputs into writing their resumes to facing interview to learning corporate etiquette. The program was concluded at around 1pm with Vote of thanks given by Jemi Christina of III BES.

CAREER GUIDANCE SEMINAR ON “COMPETITIVE EXAM AWARENESS”

An awareness program on Competitive Examinations was conducted on 30/04/22 for final year students of B. Sc ECS at G 19 from 10 .00 am to 12.10 pm.The major objective of the programme was creating an awareness among the students about the various competitive exams that world open their career gateway. To clear the study strategy of student for cracking civil services and guide accordingly at early stage. Dr. C. K. Mahendran, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil Mar Gregorios College of Arts & Science was the resource person. He gave details about the TNPSC exams, UPSC exam, Bank Exam and other Competitive exams. He discussed about the three levels of examination, depth required in each level, selection process, marking scheme and finally services which one gets on qualifying the Civil Service Examination.

Response from the Students: Students actively participated and cleared their doubts about civil services during the lecture. Overall response of students was very nice

SIGNING OF MOU WITH INSTITUTE OF AERONAUTICS ASTRONAUTICS AND AVIATION (IAAA)

MOU between MGC & Institute of Aeronautics Astronautics and Aviation (IAAA), was signed on 4^th April 2022. Workshops, Seminars, Projects and value added Courses can be conducted by IAAA with less cost or free of cost.

“ELECTROFEST-2K22” – Intra-Departmental Competitions – 02/05/22

Our Department organized an Intra- Departmental Competitions for our students on 02/05/22 in Mar Ivanios Hall. These competitions were conducted to bring out their capacity for creativity, critical thinking and focused effort. Ms. A. Indhuja & Ms. P. A. Rebecca were the MC for the program.

The program started at around 9.30am with a prayer by Mrs. W. Maxin Popy Rose. Five On-stage events were conducted namely “Just a Minute”, “Paper Presentations”, “Meme Creation”, “Ad-Zap”, “Short Film”. Five Off-stage events were conducted already namely “Best out of Waste”, “Drawing”, “Poster Designing”, “Logo Designing” and Cricket. The Valedictory function started at around 12pm with a prayer by Dr. S. Fabbiyola.   Ms. T. Jemi Christina of IIIBES welcomed the gathering which was followed by blessings by Our Secretary, Rev. Fr. Philip Pulipra & felicitation by our principal, Dr. M. Sivarajan. The prizes for all the winners were distributed by our principal & Our Secretary. The function was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Shalini of II BES.

The workshop was organized on “CHARACTER FORMATION” on 13/04/22 in KCGSJ Memorial Hall.  The major objective of the programme was to enable students to understand and care about ethical values which will lead them to success.

The Program started by around 11.30 a.m with a prayer by Mrs. W. Maxin Popy Rose which was followed by welcome address given by T. Jemi Christina of II BES. The resource person, Mrs. R. Amutha M.Com, MPhil, B Ed, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, MGR University, Chennai started her presentation. It includes topics such as “Passion in the subject with 100% effort”, “Quotes from Abraham Lincoln”, “Acceptance of success and failure equally”, “Positive thinking”, “To be Job creators and not Job seekers”, “ Value of Time and its Usage”, “Infatuation”, “Quantification” and many more. Our Head of the Department, Mrs. V. Savithri presented a gift to the resource person. The program was concluded by around 1pm with Vote of thanks given by A. Workshop on “PROMISING TECHNOLOGIES IN ELECTRONICS”

The workshop was organized on “PROMISING TECHNOLOGIES IN ELECTRONICS” on 20/04/22 in Mar Ivanios Hall.  The major objective of the programme was to enable students to understand the recent trends in technologies involved in Electronics.

The Program was started by around 11.30am with a prayer by Mrs. W. Maxin Popy Rose which was followed by welcome address given by A. Indhuja of III BES. The resource person,

Dr. R. RAJ MOHAN , MSc, MPhil, M. Tech, PhD, NET, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Science, A.M Jain College, Meenambakam, Chennai started his presentation. It includes topics  from recent trends in technologies such as “IOT”, “Mobile Phones”, “Automobile Electronics”, “Communication Infrastructure”, “5G Technologies”, “Robotics”, “Spintronics”, “Biometrics” and many more. Our Head of the Department, Mrs. V. Savithri  presented a gift to the resource person. The program was concluded at around 1pm with Vote of thanks given by P. Pooja of I BES which was followed by Photo session.

Department of Electronics and Communocation Science organized a Five Day State Level Faculty Development Program on “Emerging Trends in Electronics” from 26^th July 2021 to 30^th July 2021. Dr. Rev. Fr. John Peter invoked the blessing of God with a word of prayer. Rev.Fr. Philip Pulipra, Secretary blessed the gathering and also appreciated the Department for taking such initiative. Dr.M. Sivarajan, Principal felicitated the gathering.

A webinar on “Open source tools for learning Electronics” was organised for the students of Electronics and Communication Science on 19th September 2020 at 9.00am. The resource person for the webinar was Dr. N.Subhashini, Associate Professor, School Of Electronics Engineering (SENSE) Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai Campus. Demonstrations on how to use open source tools like LTSpice, Logisim etc for understanding electronic circuits were presented.

Department of Electronics and communication science of In association with Ifandfor 
Endeavors technologies, Chennai conducted a certified One day workshop on 30th August 2019, on “Internet of Things (IOT)” using Arduino and Python platform. The Resource Persons are Mr. KalidassSelvaraj (Founder &Design Head) and Mr. R. Karthick (Business Head) IfandFor Endeavors ltd.

Intercollegiate function “ELECTRO FEST 18” was conducted on 31st AUGUST 2018. Mr. G. VIJAYA KUMAR M.Sc, MBA Managing Director, Innospace Automation Limited was the Chief Guest. The events conducted were Spell Bee, Project Display, Add-Zap, Poster presentation and Make out of waste. More than 14 colleges were participated. Around 145 students were participated in various events.

The SYMPOSIUM was inaugurated by Ms.S.Umamaheswari,formar Head BES,MGC.

The Aim of this workshop was to provide deep insight and expertise towards mobile phone servicing.
