Department of Commerce, shift I organized a program called "magizhvithu magizh" at the Kalaiselvi Karunalaya Social Welfare Society in Mogappair West. The program's goal was to entertain the

elderly people and children by getting them involved in enjoyable activities. The program began with the blessing of the Secretary, Rev.fr.Mathew Pallikunnel, and followed by student performances of dance and singing, lunch for the day, and, to cap it off, their blessings.

On (04/10/2023) The Department of Commerce (Shift 1) conducted a workshop on financial education for growth and wealth creation to equip students with financial knowledge. The workshop began with an inauguration ceremony led by our esteemed principal, Dr. R. Srikanth with his concise introduction on finance. Joining him were the Vice Principal of Shift I Dr. Gayathry, IQAC Coordinator Ms. Shantha, IIC Coordinator Ms. Ann Hepzibha Niraja, The Head of the Department of Commerce Mr. T. Balachandar, and the Program Convenor Ms. S. Bhavani. Followed by a comprehensive discussion on the significance of finance and precautions to be taken for personal wealth creation by the distinguished chief guest, Dr. V. Prabhakaran.

In summary, the workshop proved to be highly engaging and provided valuable insights to the students.

REPORT ON AWARENESS PROGRAM ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP

18th APRIL 2022

An awareness programme on entrepreneurship was conducted by the Department of Commerce,  Shift – I, MGC at Mar Ivanios Hall on 18th April 2022. The programme received an overwhelming response from the Final year students of UG & PG, Department of Commerce, MGC.                       Dr. R. Muthusamy, Assistant Director / Principal, Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Ministry of MSME, Govt of India was the Resource person of the day. The objective of this programme is to encourage and to create awareness amongst the students to become an Entrepreneur.

The Programme started with a prayer song. Master of ceremony was done by Akshay Zachariah, II Bcom B section, Welcome speech was delivered by Jachin Christopher II B.com and the Chief guest was addressed by Nivedhithaa, II B.com. Thereupon   Dr. R. Muthusamy, Resource person of the day shared his knowledge and experience to become a good entrepreneur.  Dr. G. Gayathry , Vice Principal of Shift I congratulated the head of the department for organizing the programme. Ms.D.Mythily was the convenor of the programme.  The awareness program received a good feedback and it was useful to all the students. Vote of thanks was delivered by Muralidaran -  II B.com.  Totally 150 students were benefited out of this programme.

Dept. of Commerce (General), Shift-I organized a seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights”- The resource person was Mr.A.Lakshmi Narayanan, Examiner of Patents and Designes. Group “A” Gazette, Intellectual Property of India, on 2^nd May, 2022 11:15AM at KCGSJ Memorial Hall.

Department of Commerce (Shift I) had conducted a Guest Lecture on the topic “ Value Education”.  Mr.Jeyaraj Nallathambi Cheif Manager ,Chennai Petrolium Corporation limited, Chennai, was the Guest speaker and Dr.Prabhu Paul Dayanithi, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce (Shift I), was the convenor of the programme.   It was held at 10.00a.m. on 5/1/2022

PG Department of Commerce conducted  Webinar on ANALYTICS CAREER OPPORTUNITIES on 12th  September, 2020 from 4.00 p.m.  to 5.00 p.m.  Our Alumnus (1998-2001 Batch),

MR. BHARATH  SHASTHRI ,Vice President, Data Science, HDFC Bank, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India .

   We have invited all the students of our college to participate in this event. Nearly 160 students participated for the programme

PG Department of Commerce conducted Webinar on CAREER AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON COMPANY SECRETARYSHIP COURSE on 22^nd  July, 2020 from 4.00 p.m.  to 5.00 Noon.  

The following Resource Persons gave presentation:

Mr. CS Mohan Kumar A  ,  Immediate past Chairman and Member, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India -SIRC                      

 Mrs. Chitra Anantharaman, Deputy Director, Southern India Regional Council,The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Chennai.  Nearly 186 students Registered for the programme.

PG Department of Commerce (Shift-I) conducted One Day workshop cum Faculty Development Programme “SYSTEMATIC INVESTMENT PLAN (SIP) WITH REFERENCE TO TAX SAVINGS”  in Association with SEBI, from 10.00 a.m.  to 1.30 p.m. on 16th March, 2020 in Conference Hall.

Dr. V. Prabakaran, Asst. Professor and SEBI certified resource person and Dr. J. M. Velmurugan, Asst. Professor in Commerce,  The Tamilnadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai, presented the workshop.

Totally 50 Faculty Members of Various discipline (Shift-I and Shift-II) of our college  participated in the Event. SEBI Book Materials were distributed to the faculty Members.

PG Department of Commerce organised Seminar for M.Com students at 11.20 a.m. on  9^th August, 2019.

Mr. Sam Martin, Assistant Manager, Global Healthcare, graced the occasion and presented Seminar on “Customer Relationship Management”. Mr. Sam martin is the Alumnus of the College.  This topic is related with the subject taught in M.Com. Hence, PG students were satisfied with the presentation.
